The
vessel is one of six Waveneys purchased from the RNLI in England to fulfill
the Category 3, all-weather, offshore rescue role on the NSW coast. The vessel is a modified
design of the US Coast Guard surf lifeboat and is capable of
righting itself, from a completely inverted position, within 10
seconds.
44-006 was
last in service, for the RNLI, at Courtmacsherry in Ireland.
